African American's

The African American race has persevered through the struggles of slavery and discrimination. Not only have the African Americans suffered through the hatred of slavery, they have overcome the vile institution. The African Americans saw figureheads such as Fredrick Douglas and W.E.B. Dubois pioneer for their freedom. Doctor Martin Luther King, who advocated civil rights, however he was persecuted for his efforts with the inhumane assassination, continued that demand for freedom. Through the trails and tribulations, the African Americans achieved victory on January 20, 2009, when Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America.
